Job

Hey everyone, quick question time for today.
I am thinking of studying to become a lawyer. To study law will require lots of work and dedication but i think i can manage that, and the pay isn't half bad either.
So my question is "is anyone a lawyer here? or do you know a lawyer? If so please help me decide, leave some pros/cons in the comment field :)

  1. I wished I became a lawyer... but my grandpa dislikes them, he says they'd kill their father for money... Also, there are plenty of jobless lawyers in ym country

  2. After school, plan on working 80+ hours a week as an associate lawyer in some law firm for a couple of years.

  3. It's a question of ethics really. Money vs. What you contribute to society. I went with the "contribute to society" thing, but am not doing well financially...swings and roundabouts, I guess.

  4. I don't know any personally but it takes a lot of dedication to your work if you want to be successful

  5. Don't do it unless you want to do it. Plenty of jobs pay well and require hard work/dedication to get there. You'll burn out on it if it's not something you REALLY want to achieve.

  6. becoming a lawyer is very difficult, and many might have moral/ethic problems with it -- as stated by awesome-o. personally, i wouldn't become one, and i don't know any either..

good luck though! hope you make up your mind and i think you can do it

  9. Law is a very hard track to follow my friend. It will literally absorb your life more than the internet will. Are you willing to do such a thing?

  11. The pay is definitely worth it. starting for just a summer associate is 2400+/week in the states.

  13. Not a lawyer, I like arguing but i feel anything to do with legality is corrupt bullshit.

  14. I dunno anything about them, but I wouldn't do it if I didn't like lying.

  15. a pro is the pay, a big con is the amount of shit you have to put up with in law school. On top of that the tests to practice once you are finishing school are very stress inducing.

  19. Where I live, if you want to be a lawyer and have an actual job as a lawyer, you need to have either lawyer parents or friends so they can get you in. There is no other way. :(

  22. What Mark said (somewhere in the beginning of this page). You shouldn't do it just because. If you're going to study for something, you should pick something you genuinely enjoy. Education isn't cheap and it's way easier to learn if you enjoy your thing.
I'm an archaeology major and i love it. I actually look forward to school nowadays, too much free time gets too boring.
